Question by WOODSY: does anyone know anything about hockey Please help?
i have this assignment and its really confusing and ive done like all the questions but ive just found another two pages can you PLEASE help me, thank you.
1. does the game actually start with a centre pass ( i think it does but not 100% sure )
2. a free hit may not be given out if you have interfered with the other persons stick.
3. two different types of dribbling which you may use in the game and what benefit does it hope to achieve from using this particular method of dribbling.
4. if you had to design a 30 minute training session for a year 7 class that is still trying to learn a Flick pass and/or a push pass, it has to include a warm up, stretching, skill work and even a modified game. and can you please tell me how these will benefit them in a game and why they would be used.
please can you help me i will be very thankful and answer any questions you need answering.
Omfg Thank you so much aly you helped me out so much.

Yeaah… been playing hockey for my whole life…. thats if your talking bout grass hockey!!
1) Yes
2)A free hit may be given anytime… if you obstruct, hit the ball over the side line or back line, ect.
3) there are 3 types of dribbling; Indian Dribble, Tap Dribble, and just normal dribble (where is stays on your stick) and you benefit.. because it helps you get in a position for tackling… or doing skill.. like taking the ball around your opponent
4)Those Training Techniques benefit in the game by.. making your hit stronger, flicking the ball into the goal or flicking the ball over your opponents stick, stretching gets you ready.. and stops you from pulling muscles in the game, skill work.. gives you skill.. so then you can get the ball of your opponent or helps you get past your opposition.. to help you win the game.
Love Aly xo
PS- hope it helps

Question by Jordan: What flex should i use for my hockey stick?
I am 5’11 and weigh 130 lbs and play defense for bantam A hockey. i usually test sticks at the pro shop but i started shopping online. i now use a reebok 7k datsyuk curve 75 flex and i love it. but i need a new stick and i found a warrior johnson 85 flex. some teammates of mine said i should move up in flex can anyone help?
also is the warrior johnson a good stick?

Hey I also play defense for Bantam A hockey, but I’m 5’3 and 105 pounds, I made a mistake buying a Bauer 40, 67 flex I swear that thing flexes to the ground, you’ll probably be better off with an 85 flex or even higher, I wish I had got an 85 flex. Better a little stiffer, so you’re not constantly breaking sticks. Some defense on my team even use 102 flexes.

Question by Canadaforce: I was grounded for hitting a homeless person with a hockey stick. Is that not extreme? ?
I was walking home from hockey practice when I saw a homeless person across the road. I ran over and hit him with my hockey stick. Why is it wrong to hit people who are useless to society, but live off it’s benefits?

Question by Kelvin Lee: Mission NME Nine-1 ice hockey skates – holder and runner replacement parts?
I’m getting a pair of those awesome Mission NME Nine-1′s; Mission’s final top end skate design effort. The skates are undoubtedly awesome in every respect but there lies the question of where the hell replacements parts for this skate are found:
The skate comes with what is called the “RUSH” holder and the runner is the “HOTBLADE”.
I’m assuming that the RUSH holder is replaceable with the PITCH series holders because they’re from the same company, but I wonder if the PITCH runner and HOTBLADE are interchangeable or in other words if the PITCH runners fit into the RUSH holder. I ask because there are still online sites from which you can find PITCH runners which means extended use of the stock RUSH holders.
Otherwise, are the mounting holes of mission skates compatible with the more popular CCM/Reebok and TUUK holder’s. I know re-drilling is a common solution but I can’t help but think that this may compromise the integrity of the outer sole’s stiffness (which is essential for performance, otherwise they wouldn’t employ the use of composites).
If anyone knows where to get compatible runners for the RUSH holder that would be awesome. If there aren’t any stocked in the world, I’d also like to find out about holder mount interchangeability between the three mentioned companies (CCM/Reebok e-blade Pro, LS2, RUSH/PITCH).
Look forward to hear people’s general suggestions too!

Answer by Brandon
Well I can help out a little bit, I am not 100% sure if PITCH/RUSH steel is interchangeable, but as you said I feel it would be safe to assume they would be compatible with one another.
I do however know that the only holder that will mount without redrilling the outsole of the boot is going to be the Bauer TUUK Custom+ and only the Custom + the LS2 has a different hole pattern.
A few years back I ordered a custom pair of Supreme One95 skates and as I wanted the PITCH holder mounted on the skates I went ahead and had them mount the TUUK Custom+ holder on the skate so I could remove them and replace with the PITCH holder without having to redrill the boot.

Question by thatoneguy3513: How do I find the right hockey stick for me?
I am going to be taking an ice hockey class at school and I need a new stick. I am 5’6”-ish and I dont know how to choose the right stick. any direction will help.

Answer by zapcity29
When starting out, go with a softer flexing shaft and a moderate/conservative blade pattern to help learn proper stick skills.
Given your height, if you choose to go with a senior geometry shaft, go south of an 85 flex (87 if you look at a Bauer product), preferably staying in the 70′s.
As for a blade, the most popular pattern amongst instructors is what Easton calls “Zetterberg”, Warrior calls “Fedorov” and Bauer calls “Malkin”. It has a very small curve and lower lie that greatly assists in establishing proper technique with a player new to the game.
Lastly, when considering models, try to stay away from one-piece sticks. As a beginner, the flexibility of two-piece designs in swapping out blade patterns and materials, can be a great advantage when experimenting with different options in the market.
If I had to recommend one particular set-up, it would be an Easton Ultra Lite with an Easton Pro wood blade in the Zetterberg pattern. The performance value in the shaft should sustain you for a while and choosing a wood blade at the start provides 1) a more forgiving option when learning stick handling and 2) a cost effective way to start in the sport.
Good luck.
